Day I - Angkor Wat and Phnom Bakheng Hill sunset or Pre Rup temple sunset

In the morning - at 5am (but flexible and available upon request), you will be met and welcomed by our Licensed local English speaking guide and driver at your preferred location in Siem Reap.

Siem Reap - is the provincial capital of Siem Reap province. This small town crossed by a river coming from the Kulen Mountain is the gateway for the visit of the Angkor Park which is over 400 km2 and is home of more than 100 temples dating from the 9th to 13th century.

Kindly let us know your pickup information when you have it available?

And then picked up and transferred onward to begin visit Angkor Wat.

Angkor Wat - the magnificent temple Angkor Wat, built by Suryavarman II in the early 12th century. Angkor Wat symbolizes Mount Meru, home of the gods, and considered the pinnacle of Khmer architecture. This Vishnuite temple is the King’s funerary temple, which is why the temple is oriented to the west. Inside the temple the walls are covered by carvings and bas-reliefs depicting the Hindu mythology and the wars during the reign of Suryavarman II. As well, Angkor Wat is well-known for the 1800 Apsara dancers decorating the temple. It is said to take a lifetime to discover all the wonders of this temple.

Return to Siem Reap after watching sunset over the top of Phnom Bakheng Hill. Dominating the flat landscape, this 10th Century mountain temple is the most popular spot in the area to watch a classic sunset over Angkor Wat and the surrounding forest or

Watching sunset at Pre Rup temple, a Hindu temple, built as the state temple of king Rajendravarman and dedicated in 961. It is a temple mountain of combined brick, laterite and sandstone construction. The temple’s name is a comparatively modern one meaning "turn the body". This reflects the common belief among Cambodians that funerals were conducted at the temple, with the ashes of the body being ritually rotated in different directions as the service progressed.

During the night of your stay in Siem Reap, you can enjoy Siem Reap nightlife, night markets, foods and other fun activities in Siem Reap downtown, Pub Street areas and city formerly French colonial head quarter.

Overnight at your hotel in Siem Reap.

Day II - Angkor Wat sunrise, Angkor Thom, Bayon, Ta Prohm, small circuit and Rolous group

Angkor Wat Sunrise
- at 5am, pick up for viewing the picturesque sunrise at Angkor Wat.

Return to hotel for breakfast

Angkor Thom City Complex - after breakfast at your hotel, transfer to Great City of Angkor Thom, the last capital of the Great Khmer Empire under the reign of Jayavarman VII. This city is surrounded by an 8 m high wall; each side of the city is 3 kilometers long. It draws a perfect square you access this town through 5 gates, 4 of them represent the cardinal points and the 5th one the Victory Gate was the one leading directly to the Royal Palace Area.

You will arrive via the South Gate, an impressive stone gate carved with Elephants and 4 giant faces. On each side is a row of 54 gods or demons holding the sacred Naga snake.

After passing through the South Gate, you will go down along this shady road to the Bayon temple. This temple lies exactly in the center of the city. The particularity of this monument is the 54 towers representing the 54 provinces of the then Great Khmer Empire. Each tower has 4 faces. This is the only temple in Cambodia depicting scenes of the everyday life at the time of the empire.

From the Bayon continue by walk to the Baphoun recently re-opened to the public. There you will pass by the Phimeanakas the location of the Royal Palace. The only remaining are a pound and a temple. The palace was made of wood and did not survive the time and the wars.

Then continue to the Terrace of the Elephants. This Terrace was the place where the parade was done for the king. Next is the Terrace of the Leper King, depicting the water world.

Taprohm (known today as Tobm Raider temple) & small circuit - continues to Ta Prohm - one of the most popular temples of the Angkor Complex. This temple was built in the memory of the King Jayavarman VII’s mother. When found by the French conservators at the end of the 19th century, they deliberately left this temple in the same condition as it was discovered, overgrown by strangler fig and silk-cotton trees, giving the temple a mystical and romantic appeal.

Your visit will also include Banteay Kdei, a Buddhist monastery from the late 12th century, and Srah Srang, also known as the "pool of ablution", the identical twin temples of Tommanon and Chaosay Tevoda, and Krovan temple.

Lunch at local restaurant (at your own cost)

Rolous group - continues visit Rolous group, consists of three temples of Preah Ko, Bakong and Lolei.

Preah Ko
- six towers displaying set on a platform, all beautifully preserved carvings. Originally surrounded by walls and gopuras of which only vestiges remain. Preah Ko was one of the first major temples of the empire at the early Khmer capital of Hariharalaya. Preah Ko (Sacred Bull) derives its names from the statues of bulls at the front of the central towers.

Bakong
- the most impressive member of the Rolous Group, sitting at the center of the first Angkorian Capital, Hariharalaya, stands 15 meters tall and is 650x850m at the outer wall.

Lolei
- ruins of an island-temple built in the middle of a now day baray, Indrataka, the first large-scale baray constructed by a Khmer King. Lolei consists of four brick towers on a double laterite platform.

During the night of your stay in Siem Reap, you can enjoy Siem Reap nightlife, night markets, foods and other fun activities in Siem Reap downtown, Pub Street areas and city formerly French colonial head quarter.

Overnight at your hotel in Siem Reap.

Day III - Excursion Banteay Srei, Kbal Spean River of 1000 lingam waterfall, Banteay Samre and grand circuit

Banteay Srey excursion
- in the morning, after breakfast at your hotel, depart for an excursion to visit Banteay Srei, made of pink sandstone and is one of the smallest temples you can visit but one of the most beautiful as well. Built in 967AD by a guru to Jayavarman V, it showcases the most exquisite, deep and complex carvings in all Khmer architectures. As well the carvings and bas-relief are in a perfect condition although being here for more than millenary.

Kbal Spean mountain waterfall excursion - continue to the original “River of a Thousand Lingas” Kbal Spean is and intricately carved riverbed deep in the foothills the Cambodian jungle. Lingas are phallic representations sacred to Hinduism as symbols of fertility, and hundreds of them are carved into the rock here, as are several carvings of Gods and animals above the small waterfall.  The area was only rediscovered in 1969 when French researcher Jean Boulbet was shown the carvings by a local hermit. Kbal Spean lies 50Km northeast of Siem Reap 18Km from Banteay Srei on a dirt road. It takes from 1-2 hours to get there from Siem Reap.

Lunch at local restaurant (at your own cost)

On the way back to Siem Reap you will visit the isolated temple of Banteay Samre. Situated on the eastern edge of the Angkor complex, this temple is very similar to Angkor Wat. The structure with its typical lotus flowers shaped tower but has very compact proportions. This temple was built during the best period of the Khmer architecture and its condition is almost perfect.

Grand circuit - in the afternoon, explore the highlights of the Grand Circuit, like the overgrown Preah Khan temple and Neak Poan with its artificial lakes. Continue to East Mebon temple and return to Siem Reap after viewing sunset at the Pre Rup Temple.

During the night of your stay in Siem Reap, you can enjoy Siem Reap nightlife, night markets, foods and other fun activities in Siem Reap downtown, Pub Street areas and city formerly French colonial head quarter.

Overnight at your hotel in Siem Reap.

Day IV - Chong Kneah floating village, return and drop off back in Thailand

Chong Kneah floating village
- in the moring, after breakfast at your hotel, transfer to the Phnom Krom pier for boat on Tonle Sap Lake to visit floating village of Chong Khneah at the edge of Tonle Sap Lake. Cambodia’s Great Lake, the Boueng Tonle Sap (Tonle Sap Lake) is the most prominent feature on the map of Cambodia – a huge dumbbell-shaped body of water stretching across the northwest section of the country. In the wet season, the Tonle Sap Lake is one of the largest freshwater lakes in Asia, swelling to an expansive 12,000km2. During the dry, half of the year the lake shrinks to as 3000 km2, draining into the Tonle Sap River, which meanders southeast eventually merging with the Mekong River at the “Chaktomuk” confluence of river opposite Phnom Penh.

Then it's time for shopping at the Artisans d'Angkor, where you can observe young Cambodians being trained in the making of traditional crafts.

Lunch at local restaurant (at your own cost)

Sara T

5+ stars, and highly recommended

A 4-day private tour from BKK to Siem Reap and back, family of 4 Canadians (parents with a young adult and older teen children).

I contacted 4 travel companies in BKK/Siem Reap with our preferred itinerary. Sophoan was the only one who not only replied promptly, but also accommodated our entire plan. The communications were top notch from the start to the end, and we were confident that we were in good hands. After the itinerary was confirmed, a US$100 deposit was required by PayPal.

One day before our trip date, Sophoan sent us a detailed email informing us of our driver names as well as the vehicle license numbers and their pictures, and the border agent name. He let us know where exactly our driver would be waiting for us at the BKK airport.

Upon arrival, exactly where we were supposed to meet with the driver, a staff member with a piece of paper with our names on it was there to meet us. She then directed us to our private van.

Our driver, Mr. Rainbow, was polite and friendly. His van was comfortable, and we felt safe with his driving. The trip to the Cambodian border (at Poi Pet) took 3 hours, including a quick washroom/gas stop en route. The washrooms were clean, with a handheld bidet, but no toilet paper provided. So make sure you have a packet of tissues on you. We were able to grab cold drinks at the cafe at the gas station.

At the border, an agent walked with us and guided us through the immigration formalities. They took our luggage across the border for us while we waited in the immigration centres (so lock/seal your bags before they leave your hands). We first had to leave Thailand, then enter Cambodia (you need to fill out a landing form). The wait was about 45 minutes at each centre when we arrived at about 2:30 on a Tuesday afternoon. No washrooms or drink vending machine there, so be prepared.

Once cleared, the border agent took us to our Cambodian driver, Mr. Sure, who waited for us with a smile and bottles of cold water. It was a treat. The ride to Siem Reap took 2 and a half hours (only about 150 kms away, but slow roads), including a washroom stop.

We stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott Siem Reap Resort (which we cannot recommend enough). Our tour guide, Mr. Kim Sophatt, met with us at the hotel and gave us the guidelines of what was to happen in the next 3 days. As it was just the 4 of us, we were able to switch the itinerary around to suit our schedules, as well as the time Mr. Kim suggested would be best to visit each location (i.e. Angkor Wat at sunrise and early morning, Ta Prohm I’m in the afternoon, etc).

During the following 3 days, we spent most of our time with Mr. Kim and Mr. Sure, and both were such a delight. Mr. Kim is a very knowledgeable and experienced tour guide (20 years in the business), but what we loved most about him is the pride he has for his heritage, history, and country, and his friendliness and the wonderful sense of humour. Both he and Mr. Sure always had a smile on their faces, and laughed easily. They both made our trip very enjoyable.

As we chose to not have meals included in our package (picky eaters), we relied on Mr. Kim and the hotel for restaurant recommendations. Lunches were normally at restaurants near our sightseeing spots, but we had options for dinner. After having been eating Asian food for 10 days prior to our arrival in Cambodia, we opted for Big Boy Burger and got our bacon craving fixed. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet at the Courtyard Resort, dinner buffet and dance show at Amazon Angkor, and our fine dining at the beautiful PT Restaurant, but for food and service, our favourite on this trip was Khmer Duerm.

As for the tour itself, a lot of walking, and a lot of climbing (optional). Our kids would like to visit the waterfall, so that was a 1.8 km hike up the mountain each way. We must commend Mr. Kim for accompanying on this hike. He could just simply point us the way and wait at the bottom of the mountain, but he did not. Our kids really enjoyed the waterfall, as there was no one else there. It was our family private pool while we were there. We borrowed the pool towels from the hotel when we went, and there was a washroom for us to change in and out of the bathing suits at the bottom of the mountain.

I won’t go into the details of the temple tour, but I wanted to say that most wall carvings were from the story of Ramayana. If you know the book, you will appreciate the history of all the temples a lot more.

On the 4th day, we said good bye to Mr. Kim after lunch. Mr. Sure drove us back yo the border, also 2 and a half hours with one washroom break. The border agent met with us and walked us through the formalities again. This time there was no lines leaving Cambodia, but again 45 minutes at the Thai border. We had to fill out a landing form as well. After that, our border agent took us to our van, and we met up with Mr. Rainbow again. We got to BKK on Friday evening. Traffic was nonexistent until about a half an hour before we hit our hotel by the BKK airport.

All in all, a very memorable trip thanks in the most part to the organization of Sophoan, the expertise of Mr. Kim (who is a wonderful photographer, by the way), and the friendliness of our drivers and border agents. We highly recommend this company, as we’re already planning a return trip with other family members.

An Absolute Must Do Tour

My husband and I had a wonderful time on this tour. Our guide (Kim) was knowledgeable and enthusiastic in telling us about the history of Angkor Wat and the other temples we visited. Kim has such a wide range of knowledge. He knew interesting stories about all the temples and he patiently answered all my questions with detailed explanations. Kim is also a great photographer. He took wonderful pictures of me and my husband and each picture was great. He even taught me a few things about taking great photos. Our driver (Mouy) was skillful and careful as he navigated the traffic in and around the area. He always had ice cold water bottles for us. This tour is a must for anyone visiting the area.

Great experience.

I had an amazing three-day tour of Cambodia with my family, starting in Siem Reap. Our driver, Kim, and the three tour guides provided excellent service. Kim ensured our safety and comfort with his skilled navigation. The guides were knowledgeable and passionate, bringing Cambodia's history to life. Exploring the temples of Angkor was awe-inspiring, with captivating stories and historical insights. The warm hospitality of everyone we met, from drivers to locals, left a lasting impression. I highly recommend this immersive and enriching tour. Kim and the guides' professionalism, knowledge, and care made it unforgettable. Cambodia's beauty, both in landscapes and people, is remarkable. Can't wait to return for another extraordinary adventure and I would highly recommend the tour.

Great experience in Siem Reap!

We had a fabulous experience in Siem Reap. We are a family of 4, including two young children. We took the 3 night, 4 day tour. A driver picked us up in our hotel in Bangkok and drove us to Siem Reap (a total of 7-8 hours door to door). The van was comfortable and we had assistance from the tour crossing the border. No issues at all. Mr. Kim, our tour guide, welcomed us warmly in our hotel. For the next 4 days we had an incredible time visiting Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom and other great places in the Seam Reap vicinity. Mr. Kim was very patient with us and our children and always tried to make our experience unforgettable. We definitely recommend this tour operator and if we come again, we would arrange our tour with them. Our driver, Kim, drove safely and was also very helpful. Thank you for this great experience!

What have I been missing for all of these years?

Booked Angkor Wat Services through my local travel bureau in the U.S. I spent three exciting days with 'Poan' (my guide) visiting ancient temples, eating authentic and delicious Khmer food, climbed a mountain to see a gorgeous sunset, and watched the sun rise over one of the most beautiful temples on the planet not to mention, making new, lovely Cambodian friends and family who will be part of my life always. Have never had such a fulfilling trip and have returned often just to visit a particular temple that I missed the first time around. Honest and reliable and all packaged with that world famous Cambodian hospitality and generosity of spirit.

A Wonderful Experience with Poan

In regard to, Sophoan Roth, known to his friends as Poan--and you will be his friend if you utilize his wonderful services. He is knowledgeable and solicitous in taking you to all the places you want to see. He knows when to take charge and when to relent. He can steer you to the best places and away from the not so worthwhile. I paid 1/3 the normal rate at the hotel he procured and it was a lovely hotel. His service even included having a lady from his staff meet us at the central market so that she could help me get better prices than I could have gotten on my own. He also was gracious enough to invite me to his home where I first met his wife and two charming children. It was very interesting to see an authentic Cambodian home. It gave one a good sense of the values and priorities of a Cambodian. One could not wish for a better experience. Don't even think of doing Cambodia without Poan!

A wonderful guide

We have visited Cambodia twice, once to Angkor Wat and the second time to Phnom Penh. We are fascinated by this country with its remarkably preserved ancient history and its more recent sad and bizarre story. Each time our tours were managed by Saphoan (Poan) Rath. He is a personable, knowledgeable guide who helped us to understand this complex and beautiful place. We recommend his services whole heartedly.

Probably the most memorable place I've ever visited.

My girlfriend and I visited Siem Reap/Angkor Wat in February of 2011. We spent four days visiting this beautiful part of the world after having spent a week in Thailand. If you ever have the opportunity to visit this breathtaking area, take it! It will take your breath away!

I cannot say enough about our wonderful tour guide, Poan of Angkor Wat Services. This personable, soft-spoken man was a wealth of information. There are many temples available to visit, and Poan was very knowledgeable about all of them. He always made sure that we understood our agenda and was prompt when showing up at our hotel to pick us up in the morning. In addition to accompanying us on our trips to Ankgor Wat, Ankgor Thom, and other temples, he also took the time to stop along the trip back to meet with local residents to get a feel for the way they live their lives. Poan took a genuine interest in the way that we perceived his homeland. The pride that this man has in his country is obvious, and will leave you with a lasting impression of Cambodia. His natural curiosity was refreshing; he wanted to know as much about us as we did of Cambodia. He and I had several wonderful conversations about his family and his country

All in all, a beautiful country, wonderful guide and memories that will last a lifetime!
